More-so, most to not protect against dings especially when the ding is from a larger truck or SUV. I just park very far away from people and get my exercise.

Re: I don't think they make paint like they used to!
Trying to save some $ on installing BSD, I decided to go DIY. When the UPS finally delivered the BSM, I kind of freaked out because I never installed one before.
It took me less than 1 hour to install and I found out that the installation was not as bad as I imagined. Total cost of this DIY project is $94.50.
I took some pictures of the DIY process and uploaded to the Share Photos area.

Yeah, it's ok, but I do like the clean lines without the bsm.

These are a peice of cake to install, a quick tip is use masking tape for guide lines the full length of the car for nice straight lines because once the adhevsive touches the body there is no pulling it back off and be sure to clean area with 3M cleaner to remove all wax ect and they adhere real nice. Mine have been on for over a year with no problems whatso ever.

Re: I don't think they make paint like they used to!
I do not have any complaint about the paint scratching or chipping. My six year old did have an incident last night. I can not name the exact product as it is now buried in the trash, but it is a gel like substance that children put on the end of a straw and blow plastic bubbles. Seems to be harmless and fun to play with, so I thought. About 3/4 of an inch ended up on the recently waxed car and ate though the clear coat and paint. It will be painted next week at an estimate cost of 350, it could be more if the paint does not match and he needs to blend beyond the door. This includes removing the door handle and window trim. This was an expensive trip to the $ Store.

Re: I don't think they make paint like they used to!
My paint sucks.
Orange peel on the rear quarter panels. It's a "T" car that I waited for and accepted it with the ad paint anyway. Well, it's no Cadillac, so I would expect shortcuts here and there (like the lame trunk lever).
Next hybrid will be a BMW...

I have had my TCH since sept 06 with no scratches or dings. The paint is perfect with cleacoat applied at the 'port' (it's a J car) The only way I've been able to keep it that way is to parallel park whenever possible or to park way at the end of the parking lot.
By the way, if that plastic bubble crap can eat through clearcoat and paint, imagine what the fumes do to a kid's lungs. Maybe you were lucky the accident happened before it had a chance to hurt your youngster
