Instrument lighting, or lack there of...
I finally received My TCH after 13 weeks, from the KY plant. Red Metallic, Nav, Moon Roof, Fac. Leather, DVD Player.
I have been in it one month, 3,500 miles. No squeaks or rattles. About 38MPG average.
The remote mirror, door lock, and home link switches are not lit at night. I find this hard to believe. Is it a problem with my car, or is this the way it is?
Also, does anyone else find the ECO Mode switch oddly inconvenient? It also seems to turn itself off at times and I can't figure out why.
The only (minor) defect I seem to have is that the lights at the shifter that should show what gear I am in seem to illuminate all the positions EXCEPT the one I am using. I need to look at the dash to be sure I am in 'D'.
Otherwise, I could not have asked, or gotten more than I have with this vehicle!

Change the light to a brigher white LED. That worked for me.

ECO mode turns off under a couple conditions I am aware of:
1. If you set the climate control system to all the way up or down on the temperature range.
2. If you turn on the front defroster setting.

Sure,
#74 bulb in super white from autolumination

Once you remove the shifter trim, the green coated bulb is visible towards the bottom of the shifter (towards the rear of the car). Pull the old one out, push the new one in.

The Homelink switches have 1, 2 and 3 dots on them respectively, similar to braille. I find the corrrect one by touch fairly easily.

Even with the dimmer as low as I can get it, the light from the NAV screen makes the homelink switches easily visible for me.

I too found it odd those switches were not illuminated. I wish they were lit up.
My 11 year old Ford Explorer lit those buttons up. Another thing I find slightly annoying is when you use the window lockout button to prevent the passengers from using their window switches...it also LOCKS out the driver from opening or closing the windows. What's up with that?
I too think the location of the ECO button is a bad one as well as the heated seats button...for some reason I'm always hitting one of the two seat warmer buttons when I reach for something in that storage compartment under the NAV/Climate Control.
Oh well....I like the car so far.
