Like I said earlier, it is definitely possible to achieve, as I have done it many times.

Start with the car in e-mode at the top of a long hill. Go down the hill in neutral.
The ICE never kicks in until you put it back in drive.

Actually you could to that with ANY automobile with a manual transmission.
