I am sure it is like all other cars, it is tied in with the fuel sending or metering unit in the tank.

OK, since mine DID reset when opened accidentally, could it have something to do with the fuel level at the time you open it? In my case, I was close to empty when it happened. Those of you who did not have resets, how much gas did you have in your tank?

Sorry, it was two months ago and I'd just be guessing. But I'd have to say I was not too close to empty.
