My 65-70 MPG mode of transport next to my 38-41 MPG choice.

my friend has an 07 cbr600rr and says he gets about 30-35 mpg and he doesn't drive it hard at all, mostly highway.

I am curious why the f4i gets double the mileage.

Yeah, no kidding. How the heck are you cranking out 65-70 mpg out of that bike?? Are you counting the MPG going back UP the hill?

I've ridden/owned all sorts of CBRs from 600s to 1100s. The best MPG I ever got was 53 when riding very conservatively.

The new mileage database... well, it sucks! Not to mention the fact that my requests for help from the site owner have gone unanswered. So, I won't be tracking mileage on this site anymore. Many others have moved on as well, for similar reasons. There are several good sites out there to choose from. The two I picked are fueleconomy.gov and myhybridcar.com. But, check out the many alternatives for yourself, and see if another would suit your needs better.

AHHHH!!! Was just an estimate, no digital display to map the EXACT mileage... but that little 599 cc motor w/ fuel injection gets me round town quite efficiently. Three F4i owners in my riding group, and all claim to be getting between 50-60 mpg (rough estimate). Of course, no one really gave a poo about MPG until I started the topic. Playing around w/ the power commander really cranked the MPG's up once, hence the high estimate. Wish there was a way to accuratly test the mpg. Kind of scary running near empty on a bike :-)

Can't you just do it the old fashioned way? Measure how much gas you put in vs miles ridden? I don't know if bikes have "open" tanks anymore, but if they do you should easily be able to fill it up to the same point every time.

BTW - it was always my understanding that most bikes only get up to about 50 MPG or so. My reasoning was that the wind resistance on a bike (and drag) is pretty bad compared to a well designed car.

Do bikes really save emissions? (Honest question since I have no idea how their exhaust emissions rate these days.)

I used to ride a '72 Honda CB100. Averaged 90 to 100 miles a gallon. It was quite a reliable bike and had enough acceleration until you got over 50 miles per hour. It could cruise at 60, but there was no reserve power to avoid trouble.

Amazes me that a Honda Insight can do better than the old CB100.
