This has happened every time I bring my TCH in for service to the dealer. When I get the car back the formerly fully charged traction battery is now down to 1 or 2 bars max.
My theory is they are just leaving the car in neutral and not shutting it off.
Perhaps they are not suppose to put a car on the lift while in park?
With the DRLs on along with the other accessories the traction battery is not being recharged since it is in neutral.

This is just my theory.

Has anyone else experienced this on a regular basis after having your car serviced?

Should I bring it to the attention of the service manager?

Is this the "nature of the beast" and I should just live with it?

Any suggestions or observations appreciated.

I would at least mention it to them, bring their attention to what's happening, in case the cause is just someone being sloppy or something. Doesn't hurt to bring it up, you know? If they have some valid reason for it I'm sure we'd be interested in knowing what it is. I've never noticed anything myself.

At one dealer, it always happened, at the other it doesn't.

So I take it that dealer A leaves the car on or takes forever to get it to the service bay (hence the car's in EV and the battery is slowly draining). Probably the former since the cars get moved around by some kid.

I don't know but I never really bothered to ask even though it does hurt my mileage. I don't go to Dealer A any more.

Does your dealer do a "courtesy wash" for you?

At the dealer I used to work at, the wash boys would blast your car stereo with the engine off during the wash and during any break time they could sneak in. Customers used to get REALLY pi$$ed off and come yell at the technician when their stereo was cranked up to some stupid vulgar station. We didn't do it.

Dealer A doesn't. Dealer B does (has an automatic carwash on site) but it's optional so they will ask if you want a wash or not when you bring it in. I did find my radio tuned to a hip hop station once at Dealer A. (That station has since turned into a "today's hits" kinda station to appeal to more people).

But no, my volume never got above 20.

When I was employed in a new car dealership service dept, years ago, we had a very strict policy that no employees could change seat position or radio stations on a customers car. Of coure, then most seats only moved forward or back....hehe..dating myself...

I WISH the dealers today would adopt this policy...
