Ok, THIS is wierd.
I just saw a youtube clip about this and decided to try it out. Park your car and walk away from it, occasionally testing your remote locks. When you get out of range (the remote won't trigger the car) place the remote against the side of your head and press the button. IT WORKS! Probably gave myself brain cancer or something, but it was funny. Try it out.

Re: Ok, THIS is wierd.
Because the frequency is in the GHz range, the head is probably acting as some sort of waveguide/directional antenna. Were you looking at the car when you noticed this? Maybe the signal radiates/resonates with the eye sockets (bone structure) simulating two small dish antennae?? Weird science at its best.

Re: Ok, THIS is wierd.
What works also is to press the FOB to the underside of your chin, open your mouth, and press the button.
I tested it at the Mall one time and got an extra 30 feet.
Oh, the things we Humans do for fun.........

Re: Ok, THIS is wierd.
Probably just because you usually use the FOB at waist level. The added height of holding it near your head increases the range. This applies to most radio propagation. Higher is better. I'd bet if you hold the FOB at arms length above your head the range increases even more.

I don't see why, since it is line of site for both waist level and holding over your head. The curvature of the earth is not coming into play :-)
