I still believe sales tax is dictated within the municipality/ county you are in. However, vehicle sales tax is different than sales tax. In your case, Rockford has a sales of 8.25%, but its vehicle tax is still 6.25%. {I actually commute between Rockford, schaumburg, gurnee, (alot of driving, hence my need for a car with great FE

) and the sales tax hike in rockford took me by suprise in april}.
I actually tried Anderson on State, and it was MSRP. Brian Bemis within their quote told me to purchase from them because "everyone is selling at MSRP, but we have the lowest taxes." I tried using this as leverage in negotiations with other dealers.
They all shut me down, giving me the info I gave you.
Pauly in Crystal Lake was able to give me 1500 over invoice, so I hope to have gotten a decent price

. Alas I still will pay the 7.00% rate no matter where I purchased.
However, who knows? Any one else care to clarify.
