I am withdrawing my Pet Peeve #5. More careful checking has revealed that, although I was correct in what I originally said [namely, once the doors have automatically locked when the car's speed reached ~22 km/h (~14 mph), if one then stopped and unlocked any of the doors, they would not re-lock when one drove off again], if one actually opens any of the doors after stopping, then they do re-lock when one drives off again. Sorry about the mistake! I'm adding a note to my Post #1 to see this correction. In hindsight, this is eminently sensible behavior — if one unlocks a door but doesn't open it, it seems reasonable not to make it re-lock.

Here is my list after 8 months of ownership.

1. Why do vanity lights for the mirrors only come with the sunroof package? This makes NO sence. I paid $28000 for a car with no lighted mirrors.
2. The power window and mirror switches should be illuminated.
3. The power seat should move faster or give us the option for memory seats.
4. Driving lights should be standard.
5. The cruise control on rolling hill is annoying to say the least.

Headrests. My wife is 5'. The headrest hits the top part of her head due to it's shape and forward tilt. If the headrest was not tilted forward so far, and/or was flatter, it would give better support and be less likely to push her head forward should we be in an accident.

Has anyone found another headrest that fits the TCH?

I know that the Honda Accord and Honda Civic headrests are interchangeable, so maybe another Toyota, like the Corolla might work.

It only takes an inch or so of space, and a 5 MPH bump, and you could get a pretty nasty whiplash.

I was in a rental car that had the unadjustable (forward/back) headrests too far back, leaving a couple inches between the back of my head and the head rest. When a VW microbus lightly bumped in to me in stop and go traffic, I thought nothing of it. Neither of us felt any inclination to stop and look for damage with such a light tap. After stopping later, I checked out the rear bumper, and there was nothing there. The next morning, I was unable to get out of bed, and needed an ambulance to get me to the emergency room. Over a month later, I got the neck collar off. Trust me, your head rests are your friend! You do not want much room between them and your head.

With that said, here is an easy way to increase both the headrest to head distance, and increase the comfort of your seat! Get a nice sheepskin seat cover that does not cover the head rest. A good one will cost well over $100, but the cheap ones are crap, will wear out fast, and not stay comfortable. You can get a natural wheat color, or a dyed color to coordinate with the interior. With such a seat cover, you raise yourself up and forward nearly an inch in plush supporting comfort, which is like moving your head rest back the same distance.

Can you reverse the headrest and/or swap left for right so it is facing backwards?

Just tested it, they CAN be reversed ...but they will not provide the protection they are designd to provide.

Okay. Am I the only one that finds the Navigation system lacking?
1. The routing is frequently questionable at best. Even when the 3 routes are reviewed, none is even close to the best way to go (unlike my Garmin).
2. Might be my southern accent, but the voice recognition system frequently does to get my drift, even when repeated numerous times.
3. The ETE is very eratic and sometimes well in excess of the time to get somewhere.
4. Even if it won't let me, the driver, operate it when the vehicle is moving, it shoud detect and allow the passenger to operate it. Actually it should allow the driver to operate it--as a pilot I can operate the GPS in an aircraft all the time, even when it is moving!
5. Why cant the voice recognition system do something like assume the destination is in the city you are in an give you the capability to change city/state if needed, instead of always requiring you to input State, City, Street, Number. This is painful, especially when it doesn't recognize your commands.

Guess that is enough for now.
