Default Pricing help needed

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy a 2008 TCH on earthday to avoid state tax. The dealer so far quoted me for $25,250 upgrade w/ tech. Do you guys think this is a good deal? I really appreciate your help.

I guess it all depends on what you are having added. That is certainly cheaper than what I paid for my 2007 but mine is fully loaded.

If you are a member of Costco, they have an auto buying guide/service which my friend swears gets good deals. Easiest way to tell if it's a good price is to call three dealers (I buy mine over the phone, it's easier to avoid the dealer intimidation) and tell them exactly what you want. Tell them that you are a serious buyer and will buy it in the next two weeks. Tell them that you want their best price and that they are competing against a few other dealers.
Report back and tell us if that helped you.

I got mine as a demo but when I was looking\conversing on the internet the salesman told me he would give me the best deal right away because he looks to move vehicles. He also said that he will make deals that make the floor guys cringe. He had even mentioned how he will barely leave them any of the holdback profits too.

If you live in the north east (MD and southern PA) there is a dealer that typically sells TCH's right around dealer invoice.

All good dealers have "internet" divisions. When I get close I determine exactly what I want and look up the Invoice price on KBB. You can list the options you want and it will give you the invoice price. You can also see what incentives apply to you. After I have the bottom line invoice number I email several dealers within the area I am willing to drive to and tell them the exact list of options I want (and have made a list of on KBB). They will give you a no haggle price. I also take into account the amount of taxes I will be paying depending on the community I'm buying it in. Once I get the best one, I go to the dealership, drive the car and make them an offer (less than KBB invoice). Depending what they respond with I make the decision. I paid slightly below invoice on my 2008 Camry in January '08. My price discussions with the dealership after I had driven the car lasted less than 10 minutes.

Chuck

I used an auto broker and the price was better than Costco.. They are in the Yellow pages.
