Thumbs up Review of Camry Hybrid

Edmonds did a full review of the TCH.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=115799

Their mileage on the test track was excellent. 38.4 mpg in the stop-n-go loop and 42.4 mpg on the highway cruising at 60 miles per hour.

They must have wanted to really test performance because their total for their test was 32.4 mpg.

Shows the potential as seen in the mileage database.

Their 0-60 is considerably below other tests...Road and Track managed a 7.3, Car and Driver a 7.7. Both are excellent....the Edmunds and CR reviews, not as quick.

I wonder when they do these 0-60 tests if anyone stops to consider what the battery SoC is. This could be the reason why there is such a variance in results from one test to another

.

Two climate control systems, one inside and the other at the tailpipe.

Really good point I was thinking about myself. Today I experienced noticeably quicker acceleration on my return trip I was taking than when I left. I took Route 7 from Leesburg from Winchester, which is a hilly stretch. Got about 34.5 mpg overall--but I'm really not driving to conserve fuel and have no qualms about stomping on it to pass somebody or to go uphill.

Anyway, the way there, the battery was about half charged almost the whole way, and the car did feel a little sluggish to me. On the way home, after I had been messing around with it showing my family, it was almost totally charged and felt noticeably quicker.

I can't see how it WOULDN'T affect test results.

CR numbers are almost always lower (oops - higher!) on all of the cars they test. C&D, MT, R&T always experiment to find the fastest launch methods for each car they test. (i.e. clutch drops, brake torquing, or neutral drops).

My guess is that CR simply stomps on the throttle from idle. Big difference as the engine isn't in or near it's torque peak at the start of the run.

Has anyone done a neutral drop with their TCH?
