Re: Seat Belt Ding
I don't mind a seat belt reminder, but this is down right anoying. I hate how aggressive this car is at trying to get that seat belt on. Heck if you don't click it right away, it gets even more agressive.
Just calm down, I am buckling the @%!*&#$ thing, give me a second!

(No, I didn't have the switch previously set to "auto.")

The dealer did this for free while I was having the XM radio installed. I don't know if they would've charged for it if I was bringing it in for regular service because it apparently took them 2 HOURS to figure out how to set all eight parameters. The service manager had never seen the iguide, btw, and was a little surprised that I even knew about all this stuff.
PS: I believe in seat belt use 100% of the time on the road but I don't use them while driving up my driveway after getting out for the mailbox. I was able to make this change myself on my HiHy but for some reason Toyota makes all these cars work differently vis a vis these defaults.

Re: Seat Belt Ding
Thanks!
I'm not necessarily looking to change 8 system defaults, just the annoying automatic climate control. I'll see what the dealer thinks at my first service visit.
Seat belts? 100% of the time.

BUT, as we approach our house my wife likes to take hers off a few feet (sometimes more) before we pull into the driveway. The dinging is crazy annoying and unnecessary at this point.

Ditto, but in reverse order: I put on my seat belt right after the car is starting to "move" and I'm starting my trip (w/o any traffic around as yet).
No sooner am I already pulling it towards my waist and about to click it when it starts blaring: "Danger! Danger! You're up to 12mph by now!!!".
I'm 100% for seat belt use and don't mind any blinking warning light as as constant reminder (in case you don't get a chance to do it right away). But that dinging is just outright annoying!

Re: Seat Belt Ding
It's not difficult to "train yourself" to buckle the seatbelt before pushing the start button. I do that, and have done that mostly since 1984, when I was in the Marines and the military facility on which I drove began enforcing a seatbelt use mandate.
It's really very easy to learn. Sit, close door, reach for seatbelt, reach for power button. "Problem" solved.

Re: Seat Belt Ding
Actually I find it very convenient to hit the power button first, then put my seatbelt on while waiting a moment for the ready light.

Re: Seat Belt Ding
Yup, Hit ower button, half way thru putting on seat belt ready ding, then drive away.
Saves 1/2 a second.

Re: Seat Belt Ding
I dont have the issue with putting mine on while in the drivers seat. I hate having to lecture my passengers to do theirs right away.

Re: Seat Belt Ding
I just came from the Toyota dealership and asked them to turn my seatbelt dings off. They told me it couldn't be done. I showed them the page in the owner's manual that instructed me to have the dealer disable the buzzer if I didn't like it.
To make a long story short...the tech was able to plug his scan tool into my 07 TCH and turn offf the passenger and driver's side buzzers!!
Excelent!!

Re: Seat Belt Ding
Nice! Thanks for the update! I never asked my dealer to do it, but will try to remember for my 15k service.
Klynch...did they ever fix your problem with climate control? I've had the auto light mysteriously light up a few times as well!
