I was set to buy a bumper applique for my new Blue TCH.. Problem is, today I parked next to a silver Prius, which had the applique on.. I was not too impressed.. It looked very "dusty" and "worn".

So my question to everyone who has this bumper applique is:

1) Is it worth getting?
2) If you have a dark colored TCH, is it noticable?
3) Other comments

Care to post any pictures (mostly looking for dark colored cars)?

If we talk about the same thing, my car came with it and I thought it was factory standard, at least on the fully loaded TCH since I wasn't charged anything extra for it? It's a piece of plastic on top of rear bumper. Mine looks fine, as a matter of fact I didn't notice for good 6 months that I had some protective plastic on my side view mirrors as well. Maybe it looked worn out on that Prius because it served it's purpose of taking the abuse when people load heavy stuff into trunk? You can always take it off, so the question actually is if it's worth the price?

Mods: EV mod, VVT-i emblem, sport pedals, OEM cargo mat, JDM Prius interior footwell lighting, Sylvania Silverstars 9003ST, DICE iPod kit, OEM all-weather mats, TomTom ONE v2, LED licence plate lights.

Mine was a factory option on a fully loaded Magnetic Grey model.

It's not too noticeable and really hasn't made any diffrerence one way or another. I probably would not pay extra for it as a dealer option if I had a choice, because I don't put a lot of stuff in my trunk and generally don't ding up the rear bumper cover.

But my Kentucky built TCH had it put on at the factory so I had to take it or wait for another model.

ok, great.. I won't pick it up then.. My wife (the logical one) said to wait as well, and see how much we use or impact it before getting it..

We have a magnetic grey metallic with the applique and I found it hard to see at first. Very clear, not dusty or dirty at all. I think it has to be applied with care to insure that there is no trapped dirt, dust or finger prints.
