Touch up paint
Has anyone bought touch up paint when they picked up their car or after on the net?

Re: Touch up paint
I bought a bottle from the dealer about 3 months after I got the car to repair a chip in paint behind a rear wheel. Never looked on the internet for it.

I saw a post where someone paid about $7.00 for touch-up paint at the local dealership. After paying for shipping through the internet you're probably not going to save anything, and if you did what would it be, $2.00? When I go for my oil change I'm going to try and remember to pick up some for a nick I got in the bumper.

Re: Touch up paint
When I took delivery the dealer included a two free coupons for touchup paint. The parts department had to order it. When it came in I also pickup a clearcoat touchup too. I have used both a few times. I keep them in the console for future use. I find the rear wheel wells have the most chips. My car is 3 months old today and I don't remember my last new car having as many chips so early on. One other thing I have notice; The driver's rocker panel in the middle were your foot would rub aganist as you would enter and exit, the paint seems to be wearing already. Has anyone else notice this?

Re: Touch up paint
I've always bought touch-up paint from PaintScratch.com. I put a scratch into my Desert Sand Mica TCH when I installed the rear lip spoiler, and PaintScratch matched the color perfectly. I've also used it on all the rock chips on my front bumper.

Re: Touch up paint
Is it cheaper from the dealer or from paintscratch ? Also, does anyone have blue ribbon metallic ? Paintscratch has the same color code as the blue ribbon metallic, but the color description is different.

Re: Touch up paint
I paid 7.15 at the dealer and it is THE ACTUAL Toyota paint.. No concern about it matching.

Re: Touch up paint
Just because it is the actual Toyota paint does not guarantee a correct match. Different paint production runs can have slight variances in tone and color. it should be close though.
I bought some paint for the Discovery that we traded in from paintscratch.com, and was supprised at how closly the paint actually matched. The cost was more than $10, but I could not find Land Rover paint any other palce. I would not hesitate buying from them again if I needed to, but if the paint is easily available at the dealer, I will probably get it there when I need it, especially if it is cheaper.

Re: Touch up paint
Does anyone know if a small "spray can" version is offered? To add small trim items (like fog lights) it would be nice to get a smooth even coating on the add-on mounts for the lights.
I imagine that a repair/paint shop could get them primed/painted/clearcoated but then I wonder how much $$$ for (what seems to be) a simple paint project (if I had the correct paint, clear, etc).
Just curious...
