Smile Want to check my mileage, but I just don't need gas.

I've been wanting to check the mileage I'm getting on this car. I bought it June 9, but 10 days later I've got over 400 miles on it and I'm halfway between 1/4 and 1/2 tank. Maybe I'll fill it up today just to get that first official tank under my belt and get rid of those low MPG miles from the dealership.

I think this is the first time in my life that I want to spend money at the gas station.

LOL I feel the same way! I bought mine on June 14th. I've got 259 miles on the car and the gas gauge is only down 1/3 from full and my average MPG is reporting 40.5 so far.

I have been amazed at how often the ICE stops. Anytime I'm doing around 40MPH or less and lift my foot from the gas it stops. My last mile or so to the house is a slight uphill in a 35MPH zone. Most of the time the ICE is off the entire way, only dropping the battery one bar. Sweet!

The high milage capability of the full tank of the TCH is simply a bonus. If you want to fill up at 400 miles DO IT!

If you look at my milage data you'll see some small tanks. I've intentionally filled up on tanks between trips and local driving just so the interested people can see the differences. It's difficult to really remember the difference in city / rural and highway if you have it all in one tank. I'll eventually stop doing this but for now the station is near my house and it's no problem. It does seem weird though after having 300 miles on a tank (when I used to have to fill up) it now only takes 7 to 8 gallons to fill up for that same distance.

However that's how I know I'm saving. If I put 600 miles on a tank then the cost is about the same as I used to have per tank (I just had more than double the milage). But now I can fill up for less than $25 and in my other two vehicles the same milage was anywhere from $45 to $65.

I, too, keep looking for excuses to go driving. Undoubtedly, I'm spending more money on gas than before when I drove a gas hog. LOLOLOL.

I got mine on June 9 and am already on the 2nd tank of gas. (Yes, you can put high mileage on a car when you live on an island!) Assuming the tank was full and not topped off when I purchased it on June 9, I averaged 35.7 miles on the first tank. That is counting the 10 mpg the dealership got on the first 10 miles (what do they do to get mileage that low, anyway?) and the fact that my husband drove it for 5 days while I was out of town, and is in stop and go traffic on the freeway every morning.

About 150 miles into the 2nd tank, I'm averaging 38.4 mpg, at least that's what the display shows. Of course I'll be trying to increase that!

GreenHawaii, I put 650+ miles on my rental (9 days) in Maui. That's a lot of laps around the island! Perhaps the view would wear off if I lived there but I doubt it. I can't imagine getting to go out every night for a drive and seeing your view. Not only that but the ability to see the sunset AND sunrise over the ocean, what a photo opp!
