Hmmmm.
I wonder if they will refuse to do something about it if I already installed a power filter in the power circuit? I am still SUPER annoyed by the fact that the GLI filter that worked perfectly with my XM RoadyXT DOES remove the whine noise from my Harman Kardon Drive+Play, but it also kills all of the bass response. I complained about this in these forums, and some helpful folks (thanks SPL) suggested that the issue was an impedance mismatch between the filter and the HK's output. I ended up building a little electronics project to act as an interface between the GLI filter and the HK. It worked, but I had to power it with a pair of 9V batteries, and it did work, but I have been having trouble with the sound being garbled and distorted when I first turned the car on. (I did have a relay in it that disconnected the 9V batteries when the ignition was turned off to try to extend the life of its batteries.) I think I was still having distortion when the batteries started to discharge.
I finally gave up on it and took it out (and took out the GLI filter too), and I just deal with the whine. I hate it when I am listening to podcasts on the ipod, since the whine is very noticeable during spoken word, and quiet music passages.
I might have to have the dealer fix this under warranty and see if their filter is any better.
Does anyone out there have the Toyota fix installed and you are using this with the HK Drive+Play (I have the original one - there is a new version out now or coming soon with a color screen). Maybe the new one has a "better" output stage and doesn't kill the bass when a GLI filter is used?
