Re: XM or Sirius?
Capable but not ready. The TCH comes standard with the JBL AM/FM 6-Disc In-Dash CD Changer with Satellite Radio Capability, MP3/WMA Playback Capability, Hands-free Phone Capability via Bluetooth Wireless Technology.
If you upgrade to nav you will get a Voice-Activated DVD Navigation System w/JBL AM/FM 4-Disc In-Dash CD Changer w/Satellite Radio Capability, MP3/WMA Playback Capability, Aux Audio Jack, Hands-Free Phone Capability via Bluetooth Wireless Technology and FM Diversity Reception.
Three things are required to have functioning satellite radio:
(1) a car radio with satellite capability (this means the radio has input jacks for satelllite radio cables in the rear [inside dash], will display channel info on the radio screen, and will control the satellite radio with the regular radio controls)
(2) a satellite radio receiver and antenna (specify XM or Sirius - they are different). The receiver is hidden behind the radio in the dash or sometimes in the trunk. The antenna is small and mounted in different locations depending on whether Toyota or after-market and whether XM or Sirius. The Toyota XM satellite radio receiver/antenna package is option P7, the Sirius is option P2. Both have MSRP of $449 installed. Can be installed port or dealer.
(3) subscription to a satellite radio service (XM or Sirius). About $12 per month.
