Default Are you considering the NAV?

I'm still trying to figure out the NAV system. It will come to me. It's easy to use the map but to actually use the system to plot trips and the like will take some additional study.

HOWEVER, I am totally facinated with the Energy and Consumption screens. I'm sure that the understanding of the system I have been able to gain from watching these is the difference in my 38.7 average versus the 36 many are getting. Granted that's not really worth a lot of money but it has provided a lot of satisfaction if not an additional level of SMUGness.

Now, I took the leap and got my wifes cell phone traded out for a Motorola RAZR cell phone with Bluetooth capabilities. It was a snap to hook up and now my wife has a hands free voice operated phone system. A "hard" hands free system in my company car was almost $300 and it's ugly. With this system it measures your battery charge, lets you know ho's calling and times the call. Probably does other things as well.

Bottom line, if you want the TCH because of it's advanced technology, then the way to showcase that technology is with the NAV system.

I am curious does the bluetooth / telephone screen on the non-NAV system work similar to the NAV syaytem? Or do you simply have a bluetooth connection without the screen?

I would get in BIG trouble if I had "ho's calling."

Toyota has that covered. Press and hold the phone button and it "refuses" the call. You can just say, they must have hung up.

I didn't think the Razor supported the battery level indicator via Bluetooth. I went with a Sony Ericsson (fully supported by Toyota) and it's really slick. Especially being able to transfer the entire phone directory in one operation.
When I was looking to replace the wife's car, Bluetooh was a mandatory option after we became dependent on it with my Prius (which I later traded up to a Camry HV).
I don't know how the Non-NAV Bluetooth works. I read the manual but without having access to the Non-NAV version I didn't make to much sense out of it.

I'll have to keep an eye on that to make sure I don't have less than I thought. Both (phone and NAV) showed full charge. I'll check it again when the charge drops to see if they are the same.

If it is supported it will show the battery icon in GREEN, YELLOW, RED for full, partial and almost depleted battery condition respectively on the NAV's Phone screen. The battery icon is there regardless of your phone I bet it is not functional with any Motorol phone.
This is for the Lexus Rx350 which uses the same NAV/Bluetooth:
http://www4.lexusbluetooth.letstalk....htm?prId=29033
Scroll about half way down and it describes battery level as not supported.
Sorry.

It's currently showing three green bars

I too have the RAZR through Alltel. Will have to wait until the battery gets into the yellow to see if it shows the same color on the NAV screen. I do know that not all RAZR phones are the same. Some of the providers turn off features to make the phone less costly. www.toyota.letstalk.com shows this phone with several providers. All listed providers say the alarm clock function is not available and mine is.

Joe, yours may have all the features. Will post later

I have U S Cellular coverage. Can't say that I fully understand the technology, but the phone pairing was easier than I thought it would be. Still working on other features. I don't know if the battery icon is green even when it's not actually displaying the battery level of the phone so I'll just have to wait and see. I do know the RAZR was the only phone US Cellular in our area had that was bluetooth enabled (other than their Blackberry I believe)

Joe, I checked my RAZR yesterday when the battery level had gone into the red. The car displays one bar on the Nav screen and it is also red. So I think it is safe to say it would be yellow with two bars and of course the three green ones.

I have found though that the bluetooth needs to be enabled on the phone everytiime I shut down the car. Maybe I don't have it figured out yet, but then again it is saving on the battery when the bluetooth is not needed.
