hello all-

i'm having some weird behaviour in my car that i haven't experience before...

basically if i slow down by not pressing the brakes, and just roll to 0-5 miles per hour, and then try to accelerate again, the car will pause, then hiccup, and then lurch. it just started happenign the past couple months...i have about 40K on my car

anyone else experience this?

btw, do you know if extended warranty covers tranny repairs? i'm htinking about buying one...

GeneValgene it sounds to me like your EGR valve may be clogging/defective which is a fairly common problem in the '03-05 HCH's. If this is the trouble there are a few options:

1. Warranty replacement
2. Non-warranty replacement.
3. Remove it and clean it out yourself

My own car had a period of jerky driving but mainly in continuous moderate acceleration, mainly pulling a hill which should have been a smooth experience.
This started for me at around 28,000 miles.
I remember once as our heads were as if nodding "yes" and my wife asked me "What's that"?
The 30,000 mile regular maintenance schedule includes a CVT fluid change that had fixed it. I have about 82,000 miles and have not happened again.

thanks...after reading online, i have a feeling it's the EGR valve...

does anyone have a part number on this?
