Dear All,
I'm a Spanish teacher and my 2004 Honda civic hybrid had check engine and IMA battery on. I took to dealer, they did computer update and light went away. 1 month later, lights on again and dealer says I need new hybrid batter for $3000. My error codes are error codes p1435 and p1449. I know 1449 can be 4 different things, so I asked dealer and they said mechanic wrote down "battery degraded"
I don't have $3000 and I have 3 weeks to fix and sell this thing, so I am going to re-condition the battery myself (deadline: April 26th). My 3 local mechanics can't find where the hybrid battery is physically located in the car! Can someone give me instructions on how to get to the battery in the car, and how to get it out?
(I read that you can do a 32 hours charge on the battery unit as a whole with it still inside car, but it has to be at 62 degrees or lower to avoid overheating, and I live in Georgia and it's 80 degreees out, so I need to take battery out and bring in house to charge and avoid overheating.)
I'm ordering the MRC SuperBrain 989 to charge it. I want to know where do I connect this machine to the battery?
Also, since I am such short on time, I want to anticipate maybe having some of the sticks being totally bad, so I want to order some new ones online and pay for them now so they get shipped in time. What website can I order these from and how much do they cost?
Also, can anyone give me more info on my error codes p1435 and p1449?
