Default Fuel gauge problems

Hello everyone, i am new to this forum and this is going to be my first post. I have a 2004 honda civic, i bought it two weeks ago, and since i bought the car i have noticed that the bars in the fuel gauge goes up and down with inconsistency. For example, last night i had 7 bars when i turn off the car, this morning it drop down to 4 bars when i turn it on, i drove the car for 10 minutes and it when back up to 6 bars, and after another 12 miles of driving it when down to 5 bars. This is my first time driving a HCH and i have no experience with this type of vehicles. Has anyone else had this problem with your car?

Thank you very much for your help.

Do you happen to live in a hilly area? Inclines effect readouts a lot on Civics, including the HCH.

Well, my driveway is a little bit steep, but while while I'm driving sometimes the bars go up and down, but only one bar though.

I've seen a good amount of it. What it is is that some of the Honda engines we've seen from that rough time period have glitches like that. The thing is, a lot of them are out of warranty by now. You most certainly aren't the only one.
