Default Honda Transmission Oil

I notice that the Honda Manual states to use Honda ATF-Z1 transmission oil but some honda sites sell CVT transmission oil. Which to buy?

Yes. The CVT is the one to use. I've flushed mine four times now. No problems.

Ditto, I did mine today myself and I used teh CVT fluid from the dealer. Stuff is approx $9.00 per qt, and I used 3.5 qts. Still, $40 and 30 minutes is better than the dealer at $100 and 4 hours!!!

Never drained the transmission fluid before - how to do? How much fluid does it hold?

Thanks - did the oil and oil & air filters today, rotated the tires too!

It was easier than changing the oil. There is a post on this board with very good pictures. You shoudl find it and it will guide you through. I drained and replaced approx 3.5 qts (buy 4 qts of CVT fluid). I went to my dealer ane the fluid and washer cost me approx $40. I also recommend that you go over to a Walmart or something and get a funnel wiht a tube as the filler is down a ways and it is not a straight shot. Also, be sure you can loosen the filler, then the drain plug. Once you loosen teh drain, you are at teh point of no return!! And if you cannot open the filler (you will need approx 12 inches of socket extension!!) you are flatbedding to the mechanic for an embarassing fluid fill for sure!!

Good luck...

You can also fill the CVT through the dip stick hole like you do a autmatic trans..

Thanks, Harold, I was wondering about this, since this is what my manual says to do. Wonder why they have a separate fill hole too?

It could be for a flush connection, but I am only guessing here.
