It'll be hard to find 0W-20 oil unless you buy the honda stuff. Filter is your choice - I prefer Bosch. To me it's worth the extra $3 over a fram or whatever.

Thanks for the reply, I did some checking and have a buddie who is a amsoil dealer and he has the oil, and turns out the 1.7 uses the same filter as my honda motorcycle....but my concern will be getting the car high enough off the ground to work on it...LOL

Ramps are the way to go. I've been doing my own oil changes on my 03 HCH since brand new. I'm at 210,000 miles now.

I've always used Mobil 1 0w-20 (Wal-Mart) with a Mobil 1 filter #110. Changing is really easy except for that stupid plastic undercarriage shield thingy.

CVT fluid changes are even easier.

Remember, the HCH has a 1.3 not a 1.7

I always use Mobil 1 0w20 with a Bosch or Mobil One filter. Advance Auto puts Mobil 1 on sale every 3 months - you get 5 quarts of 0w20 and a good filter for $32. Can't beat that.

To change the oil, I drive it up on ramps - I have a set of Rhino ramps that I bought for my Camaro. The Camaro needed ramps that accomidated lowered cars and were wider so the tires didn't hang over the sides. I don't have those problems with the HCH, but they are still great ramps - being wider you don't have to line them up as anally as you do with regular ramps.

0w-20 is NOT hard to find. Just go to any advance auto parts, murray's, NAPA or even Walmart.

The filter is easy to change, it's in the front, unlike other civic engines which are a pain to get at.

Yes, I love the Mobil 1 0w-20, good stuff. You can actually feel the viscosity difference between it and 5w-20. I use FRAM filters, usually go with the tough gard, they seem to do a good job and are about $4.50 when on sale(usually just buy a few to have on hand)

fram filters are garbage, go to bitog for filter info. Purolator pure one is great for the price.
