Default Pre-purchase advice on 2003 HCH?

We're considering the purchase of a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with 63K miles. It has the automatic transmission.

Are there any known trouble spots we and our mechanic who will be checking out the car should be on the lookout for?

I have a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid, MT.

My only complaint would be on cosmetic issues. Look for loose gaskets, ie the rubber between the metal and the doors. And rattles.

Be sure to check the cabin and engine air filters. If they are dirty, someone wasn't watching over the car as carefully as you might've wanted.

My 2004 has 115K miles, so you can get *at least* another 50k miles on the vehicle you're looking at.

Most important be sure the computer software updates notified by mail from honda were done. I beleive there were two of them . They most likely deal with fuel emmisions to prevent premature catylitic converter failures and updates to the software to maximize battery life . i

I love mine. It has almost 70k miles. It's still going strong and I'd highly recommend it.
