Default Thinking about buying a used civic hybrid

I would like a hybrid but the new ones cost a bit more than I want to spend. I found a 2004 with 70,000 miles on it, the seller wants about $14,000 for it, does this seem reasonable? Its about in line with the blue book but I'm worried about having to replace the batteries since 80,000 miles would be here very fast! Any advice appreciated!

I think that is a fair price. What got me thinking about a hybrid in the first place was a 2003 with 103k @ $10500. I ended up with a new one for double that!

Check for complete maintainence records and run a carfax, other than that you should be fine.

If for some odd reason the battery needs replacement Honda will likely assist in the cost. Recently, there was a replacement battery on E-bay very reasonably priced. IMHO, more than likely the battery will last the serviceable life of the vehicle.

I expect the Kelly Blue Book people took the chance of approaching replacement of the battery when determining the price.

They're pretty well informed.

Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.
