Flash, what were the road, wind, temp, and hill conditions on that 5-bar EV? I've never been able to get that here, even on a slight downhill.

I didn't think five bars was possible! If I apply just the slightest touch above 4, the ICE comes on. I'm pretty good about being able to adjust EV bars from one to four and anywhere in between... so when I say "slightest touch", I really mean it!

My record in EV was 1.8 miles. About 25 mph on a quiet, deserted road. Never saw five bars, though!

I told you that it was a rare condition when I took the photo and I've had it several times and tried to duplicate it several other times during the week but never had the camera ready in time.

This was on I-79 north (just before the Evans City, PA exit) on a slight downhill stretch about 0.5 mile long but not all that steep. Wind was not noticeable meaning it wasn't moving the car around AND this wasn't a time when I was drafting behind a semi-truck either. Temps were probably in the mid-60s as this was back on 10/09. SoC was only 6 bars out of 8 so you don't have to be 100% charged but it helps to be more than 4.x bars of charge.

I tried to make the photos large enough so you can zoom in and count the 5 bars and then two photos to show that it was held for at least 0.2 miles <grin>. Speed was 60 mph as in the photo.

Neener, neener, neener. They both have 5 bars (send me your email and you'll get the full 2 MB photo for sure). It is mostly due to the number of miles I have - 15,000 miles tomorrow but I might not have the camera available for the moment. That is since August 7 so I've had quite a while to perfect these tricks and lots of time behind the wheel looking for something to do other than fall asleep. I don't have over 55 mpg averages but I can get 5 bars in EV. I find it easier to get this going faster (over 60 mph) rather than slower (less than 40 mph) as there is more time to adjust your throttle to the bars of assist. I think the trick is to get to 3 bars when heading down the slight grade and then slowly get to 4 bars of assist and as the car slows the bars of assist should almost automatically increase on their own without your having to add any throttle. Just let the car do this on its own and you might be able to achieve it. It won't last long though so keep watching the bars constantly without wrecking.

Okay... looks like a new challenge for me! I'm on a quest for five bars in EV!!!

Okay - I'll let you slide with ONLY a claim that you've attained the illustrious goal. However after the 2nd or 3rd time you get to that status I'll start to expect a photo as proof.

I love this group.

Now I know why my MPG on my "B" odometer is screwed up. Like a few others in this group, I have been using the "A" odometer for my "This tank" MPG and have been using the "B" odometer for the "Lifetime MPG". I happned to check the "B" odometer a week or so ago and noticed it read 0.1 MPG and 900 miles. I kept checking it and the mileage kept going up, but the MPG was just creeping up - a couple of tenth's every few hundred miles.

Has anyone reported this to Honda or know if they consider this a bug or just a function of the 9999.9 mile limit of the trip odometer?

Are you at approx 10900 miles (9999.9+900)? Otherwise I don't see how it would be relevant.

Some here have reported a computer reset @ 10000 miles. I know for a fact my trip B maintained the lifetime MPG even after crossing the 10000 miles threshold.

My trip b was accurate right up to 19997 miles, at which time I had a recall performed and it was reset - I lost my lifetime MPG...

I am not sure about the HCH II, as mine has only 1,280 miles, but on my HCH I, the trip B was never reset over the 88,310 plus miles I drove the car and it kept an accurate reading of the lifetime MPG at 47.3, pretty close to what my spreadsheet reported at 46.74.
