Default 2007 Tax rebate

I'm close to getting a Civic with navi and the '07 models are in available in my area at a few dealers as are a few '06 cars. My question is if you purchase a '07 in '06 do you still get the full tax credit since Honda has not reached the 60,000 mark? I cannot even find the '07 civic on the IRS site. Does it matter the model year or the purchase date?

BTW, I have watched this site for quite awhile now and want to say thanks to everyone for all the time they put in to make this such great place to visit. The amount of information here is staggering. Thanks again.

Question Re: 2007 Tax rebate

T-Dog,

Wish I could give you a clear answer. I would say call your congressman's office or tax person. Welcome to GH. Good luck with your new purchase.

Regards,

Best bet would be to contact your local IRS office. The following link will provide you a telephone contact for your area.

http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.html

They were helpful in answering my questions regarding my 2006 HCH tax credit.

Donald thanks for the welcome and Gobbles thank you for the link
I did use the link and called the IRS office in my area. That led me to call 1-800-829-1040 and selecting option #1 and #4 that will get you on the road to the “Complex Taxable Issues Department” of the IRS. After being on hold for 15 minutes I finally got to a real person who said as long as the car is purchased and put into use before 2007 you can take the tax credit for 2006. The fact that the car is a 2007 does not disqualify it.

Although as of today I could not find the 2007 HCH on the IRS site of qualified vehicles but I believe that Honda has not certified it with the IRS for 2007 yet or it’s in the works as they have not sold anywhere hear 60,000 hybrid vehicles.
