Re: 35 mpg first tank
John,
I see a few in Dallas-area from time-to-time. Saw one just like mine two weeks ago at the Home Depot parking lot in Plano. Saw one like yours at the Whole Foods in Richardson about that same time. I see three or four a week now on my commute. One white one I see quite often on LBJ, heading east-bound in the evenings (just like me). Guy exits at Josey (I think!).
My SOC has been near the 7-bar mark (mostly) now for several weeks. It may be the slightly cooler temps we've been having. It also appears to be easier to get 45+ MPG on my commute, and my last three tanks are evidence. I HAVE recently crossed over that magical 3000 mile mark - so engine break-in could be a factor. It may be that I'm just getting the hang of driving this car, but I bet the 85-90 degree temps are helping.
Whatever the cause, I'm liking it very much. Just after my most recent fill-up, I had a 52 MPG segment Friday, driving home from work (35 mile segment). I'm stoked!!
