Default April's Mod

Well Spring is in the air, and warm weather brings out the Modification bug in me.

I had to replace a sensor on the rear collision avoidance system, and since I had to paint the new sensor in my HCHII's body color, I decided to also paint the XM/FM/AM antenna on the rear roof of the car.

It always bugged me that the antenna came from Honda sans body color, and seeing the 08 HCHIIs with the XM antenna cover painted, I decided to paint the one on my car.

It was not much of a big deal to remove the antenna, it is held on the roof with just one nut, and accessing it is easy as the headliner is only held in by the grab handles, the door seals, and 2 pop clips in the rear.

Here is what the final product looks like.

What do you think?

I have an 08, and mine is black, not color matching. Is the reception quality the same? I may have to do this as well. Looks great. I love that color too.

Gary, you must have seen some 08 that had been modded as well.

Over here in Canada the 08's are exactly like the 06 and 07 models.

However, your setup looks very good !!!

Cheers;

MSantos

Here in the US the 08 non-navi, XM equipped cars have the XM antenna painted just like on the Accord, but the Navi cars have the unpainted antenna.

Cool. Looks great.
Is that the standard antenna? Mine does not have the twist (the candy-cane look).

Since my HCH2 is a much darker color, I don't mind the black antenna and mount at all, though.

One other thing, the antenna mast is for Navi units only and it is primarily for AM reception.

In my new 08 HCH that is the dark grey color the antenna is black enough so it belnds well with the paint color as well. Good work on teh mod though, looks very professional!
