Ok, $23,800 with destination (is the $635 destination included in $23,800?) but before TTL seems a little high to me. Again, based on my experience last month (Feb. 2008) dealers in MD near DC were making deals at least $300 below invoice including destination (I used $23,029 as my invoice figure when shopping, one dealer mentioned in their e-mail that they had $478 in dealer holdbacks too, so I probably could have done even better, but again, I was lazy). However, as exbauer points out, now that gas prices are heading up again, dealers might be seeing more demand and not be as willing to go as low.
You should use edmunds.com, cars.com, etc. to send out quote requests to all of the dealers in your area and see what they come back with, you might be surprised. If you have a Costco membership, you can try their auto-buying service, but I don't have any personal experience with it going past receiving a quote from a local Toyota dealer when I was considering the Prius. I think that AAA has an auto-buying service as well.
BTW, per the "excessive rear negative camber TSB" threads on this board and others, if/when you do go to pick up a 2008 HCH, you should check its rear upper control arms to make sure they have a "C" on them (probably visible only on one or the other with the car on the ground). My 2008 HCH produced in 11/07 does not have "C" on either rear upper control arm, so I'm still trying to figure out if it has the new arms or not, it's supposed to since it's a 2008. Based on what I have read and seen in person, 2008 HCH's produced in 1/08 or later do have rear upper control arms with a "C" on them. It might save you a headache later on...
