Question Do I keep my Extended Warranty?

I just purchased a 2006 HCH and i was nervous about the battery so i purchased an Extended Warranty (EW) for $2000. The EW covers drivetrain (both motors & CVT), IMA battery, steering, brakes, A/C, and front suspension.

The car has 56,000 miles on it and came with a 30 day Warranty from the Dealer.

The battery failed within days of my purchase and has already been replaced under the 30 day dealer warranty. The car is working exceptionally well with the new battery and software. Averaging 51.5 MPG.

Should I keep my Extended warranty, or drop it in the next few days and get all my money back? If I drop it should I pick up another companies warranty instead?

Are their other costly repairs of Engine and Transmission that I should keep it to cover?

Honestly, for $2K I would drop the warranty. The biggest problem with these HCH vehicles is the battery. And even so, it is covered by Honda with it's own warranty. So, even past the 30 day warranty from the dealer, you would have been covered.

The duration and mileage of the IMA battery warranty is regulated by the state you live in. Some are 8 yrs and 80K miles, which was just extended by court case to 9 yrs & 92K miles.

I hear that NY and California have even longer IMA battery warranties.

So, your car was just sold used and not certified pre-owned or anything?

The only other concern I have read about it the CVT transmission. However, like all other Honda components (and most manufacturers), maintenance it the key to longevity. Change the CVT fluid at regular intervals, just like the oil and it should last very long time.
