Double Recall! - Page 2 - GreenHybrid

I checked on Honda Ownerslink (by inputting my HCH IIs VIN) to find out if these recall(s) apply to my vehicle, which was built in Feb 2007. So far per Ownerslink my car is not being recalled by Honda. I m assuming that the verification of the recall status through Ownerslink is the most accurate way to learn if these recall(s) apply to my car. I won't be pleased if I later learn that one of these recall(s) does apply to my car even though Ownerslink indicated the opposite was the case.

If you check out Honda's letter to NHTSA - only Civics built in Canada are affected.

ALL HYBRIDs are built in Japan.

Canadian VINs start with 2.

Japan VINs start with J.

I should note that at NHTSA's website this letter is under the "CIVIC" and not under "HONDA CIVIC" though the letter and all descriptions clearly refer to "HYBRIDS".

That brake-light switch recall DOES apply to me (May 2006 birth-date).
I haven't done the other items yet - it was scheduled but then I had to postpone. I guess I'll wait for the letter, and get this all done at once.

The problem is, if you show up too early (as I did for the DC cap recall), they won't have the part ready for you and you've wasted part of your work/school day. I'm waiting for the letter this time.

Hey

saw the same news item you did a couple weeks back. Called Honda. The first one is truely a Canadian built only thing and didnt apply to my Build date March 13-16 2006 civic hybrid.

She told me about a brake switch recall which wasn't released yet which would apply to my car.
