Default First Oil Change Experience

I went to Advance Auto Parts to get 4 quarts of 0w-20 for my first oil change. They only had 2 and I asked the lady if they had any more in stock. Her computer said over 20 were in stock. The other guy who works there says that Mobil considers 0W-20 and 5w-20 the same thing. So I bought 2 5w-20s too. My receipt says 4 Mobil 0W20/5W20s. The other guy said something about how customers were getting confused about the 0w20.

I'm going to continue my hunt for 0W20 at WalMart today. If I can find 2, I'll return the 2 5W-20s

.

Not bad for an automatic, eh?

Advance Auto Parts may consider the 0W20 and the 5W20 the same thing, but Mobil certainly does not.

If you mixed equal parts of the two, would you have '2 and a half W 20?'

I just hit 15% oil life at precisely 8786 miles.... gonna drive it to 10,000 before changing... just stubborn that way I guess, plus I should still be showing 5% oil ife at that point.

Had my first oil change at about 9,000 miles (below 0% oil life, the indicator starting accumulating "negative miles," so I figured I better take it in.

I paid $19.95 or thereabouts for the oil change with 0W-20 oil, i.e., no premium for the different weight oil at Crown Honda of Durham, NC.

Not so much as a drop used. I'm amazed! As thin as this oil is... and as long as it's in there, I thought for sure it would be consuming some. When I did my oil change (myself) at about 8,500 miles, I was shocked to see 3.6 quarts come out (full capacity).

By the way, I've already purchased the Mobil one 0-W20 for the next change. Found it (again) at WalMart in Orange, CA.

My oil life hit 15% at 8,600 miles. I took it to the dealer who said that I should not have waited that long. I pointed out that I was just following the car's guidance, then he said that was OK, I must drive conservatively. I had noticed a FE drop from 49 to about 45mpg for the last two tanks. After the oil change I am back to 48-49mpg
