I know this has been discussed before, in various threads, just couldn't find any dedicated thread about it now.

My overall fuel consumption after 5800 km is 5.03 L/100 km (46.8 mpgUS), but the display average has been 5.24 (44.9). While rewarding to find you actually spend less than anticipated, a 4% error is a bit too much, I think.

I have seen others comment about a 2 mpg difference, which is about what I get. Please post your figures, so we can compare.

Mine is ALWAYS off 1.6 to 2.1 mpg.

My lifetime fuel economy is now only 0.8mpg (1.5%) more than the display.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

I'm always between .6 (lowest) to 1.8 (highest) below the actual on my displayed FE. The biggest discrepancy was on my most recent tank, which was almost all highway. The car showed 48.0 MPG, while the actual was 49.8 MPG. That difference leads me to believe the major leg of that (which showed 49.5 MPG) was really closer to 51. FTR, I was driving on very hilly terrain in western PA and WV going 68. Not bad.

My displayed mpg is between 1.2 and 1.4 mpg less than calculated on fill ups.

My displayed mpg has been 2-2.5 lower than calculated.

My calculated mileage has always been approx .8 to 1.5MPG better than the display.

My experience with other (non-honda) automobiles has always been that the display is higher than actual, with sometimes significant differences.

Both the HCH & the Odyssey actually read slightly lower than calculated at the pump, which is always a pleasant surprise. The variance on my Honda's has never exceeded 4% (always higher than the display).

My first two tanks read 1.1 and 1.2 mpg lower than actual at 43 and 44 mpg calculated. My last tank read almost 2.0 mpg lower than actual at 48.5mpg calculated. The last tank was 4.5 mpg better than my second tank as the car is just breaking in. This leads me to wonder if the mpg display may be over estimating the fuel usuage during the lowest amount of fuel flow, which would correspond to when you are getting the most mpg. Does anybody else notice a bigger difference on their highest mpg tanks?

On four tanks of gas so far the actual is been consistently 2% above the display. My lifetime caluclated is at 54.4 mpg. The car display is at 53.3 mpg. Each tank has been 2% (plus a miniscule amount) over the car display value.
