Default Future HCH II Owner

Hey everyone, I am finally on the verge of purchasing a HCH and I'm looking forward to learning about this amazing vehicle from you guys. The first time I drove the HCH II was a treat, so I began doing my homework immediately. This isn't exactly a buyers market for hybrids, so I want to make sure I get a decent deal. The Prius is nice, but it's not for me. I can't go two blocks without seeing one in Los Angeles, and the markup is far greater than the HCH in Southern California. I've also thought about purchasing a regular Civic, but I know I'd regret missing out on the hybrid technology.

The dealers out here are selling new Civic Hybrids well over MSRP. I've seen a few HCH w/NAV listed at $31,000. Even the used Hybrids at the dealers are going over the Blue Book value. It's gotten to the point where I hope to find a quality used HCH from a private seller.

So if I purchase a used 2006 or 2007, is there anything I should be concerned about?

Availability will not be one of them...expect to see waiting lists and inflated dealer stickers...

That's what I was thinking. The days of getting a HCH at or below MSRP appear to be over.

Try getting a quote directly from honda (http://automobiles.honda.com/tools/price-quote.aspx), saves you time and hassle of dealing with the sales people from different dealerships. Honda contacts the dealers around your area, which they then email you their quotes. This way you'll have a better gauge of the prices and which dealership to go to for the best deal.

Also, if you are a AAA member, they have a car buying service. That's how I am buying mine. They can help you find a used one, as well.

I got it a bit below MSRP back in May. I don't know what it would cost now, but you could give it a try.
