I've had mine for just over six months and have had no problems.

We have 26,000 miles on our 2006 and no problems with it. Our best tanks has been 95.5. Like many people, we have made several mods to our HCHII.

We highly recommend this car.

.

Best, Ed & Drew

what mods have you done to get a high of 95.5?? I live in Northern Illinois as well, have only had three tanks but haven't been able to get above 48.4 (i think) for a single tank. do you have a block heater? I'm considering getting one after learning how the cold weather seriously affects mpgs in a hybrid. thanks for the reply!

I had a 2006 non-navi and put 15,000 miles on it before I traded it in for the 2007 navi version. On the 2006 I had the window problem and the knocking noise in the front passenger side suspension. The dealer could not fix the problem even though they changed out the suspension on that side. Then on the 2007 it had the same suspension problem on the passenger side. They changed out the suspension once again and could not fix it. I must have sonic ears. I traded it in after 3 months since things changed where I needed a bigger car. But, I would still recommend the car to people.

Hi. I found this site which provide information like an accelerated life test. It shows MPG, mileage driven, parts changed over the duration. I think this could give us an indication of what to expect...

That means 70% is wasted.
I'd rather waste 0%.

I shoot for this by going as far as possible on the gas I just used to get up to speed.
This means I must leave a lot room in front of me when I dirve.

Of course I also balance it with trying to be safe and considerate - somewhat.

Also I'm in Southern California.
No snow, little rain, no hills, no passengers, drive 53 miles per hour in the rightmost of 5 lanes.

Hey Kenny,
What kinds of tires do you have? I got my HCHII in late September, and for about 6k miles my average was 56.1 mpg, with my new Bridgestones (and just 2 more tanks) I'm down to 54! (Of course very cold mornings and windy weather hasn't helped!)

Thanks

I'll have to check which tires I have.
I've never changed them and took delivery Jan 2006.

I think they are Dunlop but I'll verify.

FWIW I believe cold temps will have more affect on MPG than brand of tire.

Need fewer troops to support.
Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

Dunlops is what was on the car (till one blew out and the others were bald!). I'm sure cold weather is part of it, but the day I got the new tires, my mileage dropped! (and it was cold for a few days before!) Oh well, tahnks for the reply!

What in the heck is the " 15k Service " all about? Seems to cost quite a bit. There's a pricey 15k service for Prius too. I didn't have one done, glad too, sounds pricey.

I have had my 2006 since 3/15/2006. I just turned 58,000 miles. Only problem I have had is the drivers side window coming off track and some jerk letting a shopping cart put a small ding in my fender :>. Car has been great. Still has the orginal brake pads (was told they still have 70% pad life left) Apparently I don't brake much.
