Often I don't see 9999 during normal glide. When it happens, my foot is off the gas but the GPH meter is still registering something more than idle. Its as if when I transition suddenly from accel to glide it misses a state change and just remembers the last real looking thing it saw.

I've never tried the Kiwi.

Interestingly enough, that happened to me for the first time going to the grocery store last night. I was in a "30mpg" glide for a few miles .

.

Commuter car, grocery getter, and summer road tripper--average 10k miles per year.

Winter road trips and ski trips, bad weather commuter and my wife's "daily" driver--expected average 4k miles per year.
