Default Intro/first post...

Hey gang-

I've been reading this forum for about 4 months, waiting for my '08 HCH to show up. It finally arrived yesterday, and I'm very pleased with it thus far.

This all started for me last May, when I put my name on a card and dropped it into the slot for the give away Honda Civic at the Boston AIA Convention. I though it was BS when they e-mailed to let me know that I'd won the car... How 'bout it!

I was able to pick the color, Galaxy Grey, and added the Nav setup. The car came from Schaumberg Honda in Chicago, and was delivered to my door in Idaho. I will have to pay income taxes on the value, but the car has only cost me the $1500 Nav upgrade, and $1400 shipping. Not to shabby.

Looking forward to tripling the gas mileage over my Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Happy trails-

Pete

Wow! Congratulations!

I won a Toyota RAV-4 back in 1996 when they first came out, but I hated it and traded it in immediately.

So, will you get the federal tax incentive? I know if it was me, I would file for it!!!

Best of luck!

No doubt very few people will beat that price....just a bit below MSRP, even with the tax on the value...enjoy the car.

.

1978 Plymouth Horizon - 165,527 miles, still the longest lasting
1985 Dodge Daytona - 62,500 miles and the transmission gave out
1991 Mazda Protoge - A very good car
1997 Ford Contour - This one saved my life in a driver side impact accident
2000 Pontiac Grand Am - I have a bulls eye painted somewhere, this one was rear-ended
2004 Civic Hybrid - My first Honda, My first Hybrid, ran 88,300 miles before the tax rebates came calling
2007 Civic Hybrid - Going strong and a joy to drive

idahoblueskies,

I have so far avoided replying to this thread because I'm jealous.

There, I said it! Man, that was like therapy. Now I feel better.

Congratulations on your wonderful luck and a great car!

Need fewer troops to support.
Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

Welcome and you suck! (just kidding)

Keep us up to date with your feelings about the car since you're an unusual case--most of us spent quite a few hours and brain cells deciding to buy this car. Also, don't let the mountain terrain scare you. I get my best mileage in the mountains--it's all about the "glide" down!

.

Commuter car, grocery getter, and summer road tripper--average 10k miles per year.

Winter road trips and ski trips, bad weather commuter and my wife's "daily" driver--expected average 4k miles per year.
