One thing I noticed when trying different bulbs was that on the high beams, the DRL function seemed to "cloud" the bulb just a bit after I took them out to change to another color. It had minor "smudges" on the bulb that I can only account for the lower voltage not letting the bulb to burn as bright as it was intended. Still works, but the thought of the minor clouding could create a long term problem (maybe).

The main reason is that it takes a longer time for an HID bulb to light up compared to that of a halogen. So flashing your high beams is instant with a halogen bulb... not so with HID.... Which is why most cars that have HID high beams are always ON, with a "shutter" that flicks them on/off depending on when they are needed. This means that whether you need your highbeams or not (day time or night), the highbeam HID lights are always on.

They are just great. No problems, no one flashing us etc. We just came back from a trip to LA, and they really helped at night.

My next project(s) is to replace the high beam halogen lamps with a halogen bulb that has a 6000K light temperature, install the OEM fog lights, and replace the "wimpy" horn with a nice pair from a Porsche.
