Welcome to the club. I was in the same boat last August and also went with the HCHII because I liked the sporty feel over the Prius. The price difference was also a factor.

As for the alignment, my car pulled to the right initially. After a few hundred miles, it went away and is tracking straight now. You might also want to check your tire pressure and make sure it is the same on both sides.
