Cool Price of a gallon of Gas

I was looking at the log for the HCHII today, and see that when we bought the car in November 06, the average price for a gallon gas bought in November was $2.359.

For May 07 the average price for a gallon of gas was $3.299.

That is a 28.5% jump in 7 months!

Sure am glad that we got the hybrid. Now if I could just get my wife not to be such a lead-foot, and get the lifetime average above the current 39.63 mpg. With the Civic and its car-pool stickers, she loves driving solo in the hyper-speed (I mean car-pool) lane, but the minimum speed there is 80! Still, her current mileage is double that of her old Audi!

LOL! I hear you on that one! I rode with my wife on a quick errand last night and she dissolved the 54.5mpg/10mi I scored on my commute home into 48mpg/15mi in just 5 miles! The ironic thing is that the HCH is her car and I was the lead foot of the family prior to buying the hybrid...

.

Commuter car, grocery getter, and summer road tripper--average 10k miles per year.

Winter road trips and ski trips, bad weather commuter and my wife's "daily" driver--expected average 4k miles per year.

With the high gas prices(and going to get higher) it's nice to think that there isn't much else we could be doing to lessen the blow other than driving a hybrid. There's NG but that doesn't seem too practical.

Gosh it's been so long.

Last time I needed gas it was about a buck I think.

Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

Price of a gallon of gas in the northern IL area: ~$3.60

Filling up your hybrid after 10 days of driving (with 1/2 tank left), taking the receipt and smiling at the SUV driver behind you approaching the $60 mark and still filling her tank even though she started before you: Priceless.

Personally I like pulling into a gas station only to use the squeegee and paper towels

Gas dropped to $3.109 this week...woohoo. It sure is nice to drive by and only read the gas prices and not need the gas for another week or so!!

Show off But watch out... I've switched my commute route! It used to be coming home I'd max out around 62mpg. But you can see the new route below!

.

Someday I might even beat that wascally kenny!
