Default spark plugs

Ok, so I was changing the spark plugs on my 98 pickup last weekend, and noticed a big difference in the power and noise from the engine. Now, the old ones were in very bad shape, but part of me wonders if putting in the e3 plugs is going to make a big difference or not. However, that's not the point of this thread. I was wondering if anyone's changed their spark plugs on their HCH 2nd gen yet? Was it difficult, hard to get to, etc? Did you notice any performance gains, FE gains, etc afterwards? I saw some spark plugs online, which claim they provide 12% performance boost, and a 10% FE increase (up to being the key word on the description). I read that the HCH2 has 8 spark plugs. So, I can imagine that I'll have some work to do when I go to change them.

Typically, this wouldn't need done until around 100K miles, but a lot of maintenance manuals in the past would say every 24-36K miles. Now, I prefer to keep things "new" when it makes sense to. Call me paranoid, but I still believe that you should change the oil filter everytime you change the oil. Why start with a filter which contains particles, when you've already removed it to begin with? That's a rethorical question. Anyway, i'll wrap this up, but was kinda curious about the spark plug thing. Typically I change my own, since it's relatively simple most of the time.
