Default Special oil filter?

I'm coming up on my first A-1 service and have already gotten some Mobil 1 0W-20 to take with me. My question is, is there a certain oil filter which is best, or should I just let Honda use theirs? Thanks!

Honda has two filters that will work:

P/N 15400-PLM-A02 (Fram version)
P/N 15400-PLM-A01 (Filtech version)

Most dealerships will install the Fram (it's cheaper), but request the Filtech version as it's a better constructed filter...

at any rate, they both work just fine, so don't sweat it

Stay away from Fram. There's more than just a few filter reviews out there that can tell you why.

Someday I might even beat that wascally kenny!

Not true. The cost is identical for both filters. Honda considers them as the same part. Fram supplies about half of the filters while Filtech supplies the other half. Supplier thing, period.

The differences in construction, as to which is better, is completely subjective. The performance of either is good enough apparently, and I really doubt there are any significant differences in performance. Sure, some people feel antsy about the endcaps, but that's their call, and they reserve the right to have that opinion, but they've worked fine for decades and there are a lot of cars on the road today with Fram oil filters working fine, and many do not even get their oil changed on time. More and more filter manufacturers are switching away from the metal endcaps...

Talking Re: Special oil filter?

I used the fram "heavy duty". It appeared to be in the middle, cost wise and in features. The extended life were much more $$. I like the grip on the frams.

Default Frams are fine

I have been using Fram oil filters in all sorts of applications for over 40 years and have never had a problem. I plan on using them on the Honda as well.
