It's the most efficient aerodynamic shape. A rain drop type shape is the most efficient natural shape, then cut off the pointy tip to reduce air friction (minimally effecting the aerodynamics otherwise), and you get even more efficiency - that's the basis of the Prius/new Honda design.
They're also probably trying to market it to the Eco-Bling "Look at me, everyone, I'm driving a HYBRID!" market that is currently only served by the Prius.
