Default static shock

I've had my new 08 hch2 for about a week now and I get a major shock everytime I exit the car. Do you guys think this is just due to the cloth interior and the newness or have others had this problem and think it might be caused by something else?

I haven't had a problem with static discharge. I have, on occasion, felt it in my truck, though. I would mark it up to the static that builds with the cloth interior.

I get these shocks in my 2007 HCH, but it must be because of the drier air in winter. I never got shocked during summer and fall.

Yes, I notice it more in this car than in my previous rides (but they mostly had leather interiors). There are other threads on this site about this, too. Search around.

I get this, too, especially now that it's winter. If you touch the metal on the door BEFORE your foot touches the ground, you get no shock. Of course, about half the time I forget to do this(). The little zap reminds me for the next time..

Someone with an HCHI was having this problem. I found a few sites that say how to minimize this.
