My B123 indication is on, telling me to change the transmission fluid. I've not done this before so I have a few questions. First, where exactly IS the trans drain plug? Next, how much total trans fluid does it take if you drain/fill 3x as the manual says. I know not all the fluid drains when the plug is removed, so how much do I need for 4 fills? Lastly, where is a good place to get the long-neck funnel needed to do the job?

I went looking for the specific thread but didn't find one with detailed instructions or pics. Can the CVTs be "power flushed" at the dealer or must they use the same inefficient method I have to?

My understanding is that the dealer would use the same method as you. Somewhere (I forget where - sorry) I saw a Honda service bulletin that recommends against power flushing the transmission of any Honda. It was either somewhere on Greenhybrid or on HondaSUV (my wife has an '07 CR-V).

Thanks for the help, I did finally find the thread will all the pics. It was an HCH I, though. I'm assuming the trans is to the right of the oil pan if you are looking at the front of the car?

Yes to the right.

I had a nice conversation with a Honda engineer on the topic of CVT oil changes, and his advice was that the 30K oil changes are just that, drain and refill with fresh trans fluid. The only time that the drain, fill, drain, fill, drain, fill comes into play is if there is a problem with the CVT. Otherwise it is just drain and fill.

Good to here about that. I hate wasting oil for a flush only. Thanks, H
