I've seen some posts that mileage and charge/assist behaviors have improved with some of the software updates so I'm trying to determine if my VGL is performing properly and getting the best mileage it can.
  • I'm finding that the auto-stop doesn't happen as frequently as it seems it should.
  • When the auto-stop does engage, the engine will start if I turn on any heat in the car.
  • The charge/assist gauge only rarely edges into the assist side.
Is this normal?

Thanks for any advice!
Okay, the 25-26 MPG(US) is approximately in the 30+MPG(Imp) range. Resource Canada lists the GreenLine city Mileage as 32 MPG(Imp). We personally have seen a city mileage of 31.7 MPG(Imp) but our overall average has been around 30 MPG(Imp). With the 13.3 Imperial gallon fuel tank you are achieving 30 MPG(Imp) if you have gone 200 miles (320 KM) on a half tank.

Since the upgrades we are seeing charge/assist much more active than in the past. One driving hint I can suggest is to coast whenever possible. When we coast (like when taking an off ramp from the highway) the needle flies almost all the way over into the charge zone. I read somewhere that auto stop will only engage when the battery has at least a 20% charge. I have also noticed that since the upgrade the Vue charges slightly during the first ten minutes or so of a drive.

Hope some of this helps!

i have experienced similar changes after the harness service. i have seen steadly decreasing gas milage, my gague doesn't go into charge as frequently either...even when coasting down hill with my foot on the break. my auto stop seems to be working just fine though.

My drive to/from work is about 45Km round trip. About 1/3rd of that his highway.

I don't think it's warm-up time that's the issue here. I will be driving home from work and the auto-stop engages at a light, but the next light I stop at or after I creep forward and stop again in traffic the auto-stop may not.

This will keep it from performing auto-stop as well. Unless necessary, I keep it on the floor/vent blend setting as it won't run the compressor.
Right. I've noticed that as well. The auto-stop will work in defrost or partial defrost, but less frequently than when defrost is off. Good to know.

I have to say that while I like the style and the space of the 2007 Vue, I'm quite disappointed in the mileage numbers I'm getting. I have that "eco" light on what must be 80% of my driving time, but I'm getting consistently worse mileage than the published numbers, and most of the other VGL owners here. Frankly, it's not even close!

Interestingly after several trips to Saturn to have them check the "check engine light" that periodically came on...and, oh yes, contact your dealer immediately..of course a number of solutions were given one of which was "tighten the gas cap". Finally the engine light came on and stayed on. Back to Saturn to see what it was all about. Sorry, a harness for the big battery under the back seat would need replaced. No recall letter. Harness must be ordered. When the car was taken for the harness it took all day. The batteries were leaking, terminals corroded, tray cleaned & repainted, re-installed all 3 new batteries, and finally cleaned up the rear storage area in my VUE. This simple 2 supposedly hour repair took over 6 hours with a one hour mechanic lunch break.

Sorry to hear about your corroded batteries. However, I am glad to hear that Saturn was able to use the check engine code and get your issue resolved.

Since this is your first post - we would like to welcome you aboard to the Hybrid community. In addition, would you care to share with us your mileage - driving habits - mpg and your view on your Hybrid?

We are always interested in our fellow Saturn Hybrid Vue owners.

Not sure about my mileage with my new hybrid. "Veronica Vue" has just about 12,000 miles at this point. I live in a rural area that required driving to just about everything. The word around here is "it's 15 minutes to anything". Guess I should evaluate my mileage and let you know at some point but it seems that I am not visiting the gas station as often.

Well here's a follow up on this topic.

Today I received a recall notice in the mail for "07195 - Battery not charging - limited drive time" which I strongly suspect is the harness issue previously described here.

I suppose this just goes to show you, if they say "it's already been done", ask to see the paperwork to prove it!

Later, the salesman told me that it was previously installed, but I'm not sure if they know what this is.

Is there a way to check to see if I have it installed, such as a part number on a component that I'm able to check?

Thanks.

Hmmm...we also just received a recall notice with the same "07195..." blurb this past Wednesday. We had the harness done on November 3/07. As I looked at the service invoice I see "RECALL 07195 - V1695 REPLACE HARNESS AND REPROGRAMME AS PER 107WAR94." So obviously my dealer did not inform "Saturn Central" that the work had already been done. It's also obvious from the printout of our invoice that this 07195 recall is the harness. BTW, this recent notice came as a single simple postcard time thing. The original harness recall was a two page printed affair that came in an envelope. Hope this info helps someone.

Cheers!

Gotta say that we (GM) have not been the most efficient in managing vheicle owner info. I still receive notes from local dealers to bring "xyz" vehicle in for a free oil change and diagnostic, even though "xyz" may have been several vehicles ago.

Peace,

Martin
