Default 2007-2009 altima - how to reset the airbag light

*** This is only if you tripped the light yourself by unplugging a harness while installing something in your Altima. If your not sure why the light is on bring it back to the dealer to have it serviced.

While installing my new radio I had to disconnect the passenger on/off airbag light above the radio and this caused my airbag light to blink. The light also came on when I took the interior out to have aftermarket leather installed.

My dealer would have reset it for free but I would have had to drive 40 miles to get there.

These instructions should work for any 2007-2009 Nissan Altima. (coupe/sedan/hybrid)

1)Push the ignition from OFF to ON
2)The air bag warning light will appear for about 7 seconds and turns off.
3)Then push igniition switch OFF immediately. (before the light comes again)
4)After ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for about 6 seconds.
5)REPEAT step #(4) 3 more times, The 3rd time will reset the light.

6)Push the ignition switch ON, this time the ABS warning light has been reset.

7)The start the car normally with the brake. The light should be off.

This worked for me. Hope it works for you.

I found this trick on another forum.

*** If you don't know why the light is on, just bring it back to the dealer.

Thumbs up Re: 2007-2009 altima - how to reset the airbag light

Thanks a lot ! Worked perfect on my 2010 Altima Hybrid. I had the passenger seat out because I was installing a leather kit and I moved my car. Which in turn tripped the airbag light. Your method solved the problem.
