Nice..how do you it so far? Are you changing the stock speakers as well?

Installation wasn't too bad. Hooking the wires up was pretty straight forward. That only took about 20 minutes, I had already ran some wires to the trunk for the back up camera when the interior was out.

What did take a little work was custom making the trim for the faceplate. I ordered the factory navigation dash trim from Courtesy Nissan in Texas for $30. Just to keep everything stock looking. The factory navigation is about a 1 inch wider than the kenwood. So I had made the trim out of balsa wood. So that took a little time. (sanding and painting)

In the process of removing the dash I tripped a couple of sensors.
I had to clear the service engine light and abs light because I unhooked the wires for the passenger air bag sensor and the temp control switch.

The service engine light was easy because I have a obd2 scanner.

The Abs light is a little tricky but not too bad either. I will post a new thread for this.

This unit is pretty cool...it has built in blue tooth, garmin gps, dvd player, iphone/ipod controls. I got it on ebay for $730 including shipping. I don't plan on changing the stock speakers. They sound much better now with this head unit.

awesome install! Looks sharp with the OEM panel + painted balsa wood.

A few questions...

1 - did you have the BOSE speakers to begin with?
1b - if so, what kind of interface did you need to connect the new head unit to the speakers? (others have reported problems dealing with the BOSE)

2 - where did you mount the bluetooth mic?

3 - what other interfaces did you have to buy to get everything working?
(something for the antenna? something for the steering wheel controls? anything else?)

I have a base model NAH, so no Bose speakers or special interface needed. I just ordered from ebay, a wiring harness kit that came with a special adapter for the antenna.

The blue tooth mic is mounted in the head liner by the rear view mirror. The wire goes up inside the left front pillar. I will post a pic later.

I was actually kind of surprised how easy the installation went. When you pull out the stock radio, there is so much space to work with inside the dash.

Nice work. where did you get the parts?i want to make make a hybrid system taking the best of what I have stock in the car such as bluetooth phone, XM radio and steering wheel controls.Car PCs suck at phone integration and steering wheel controls and just cant compete with the reliability accuracy and speed.

and now i know already what to do. thanks for the pics.

I ordered the OEM trim that comes with the factory navi.

It was pretty cheap. Maybe $25? (a longgg time ago.)

The factory trim is a little bigger then a standard double din head unit. So I filled in the gaps with balsa wood from a hobby store and painted it flat black.

The head unit was and rear back up camera was ordered from ebay.
