Default Air Bag Sensor Recall on 07 to 09 Altimas

Hi,

NBC news announced That Nissan is having a recall on 2007 to 2009 Altima cars due to a defect in the passenger air bag sensor. I am trying to find any confirmation from the normal sites.

yes, they are starting recalls in november. i'm not sure which altimas are affected, i think 2007-2008. it's not really a defect, it's more like when you have someone who weighs 100 lbs or less sitting in the passenger seat, the light comes on and off

That explains why, when my 105lb son sits in the passenger seat, the airbag light is on sometimes. It seems very inconsistent. Nissan dealer just told me that he got the info on the recall, but can't do anything about it yet, as it is not "fully set up in the system yet".

Yep. I noticed this once when I was my dad was sitting in the passenger seat. We were on an incline and the yellow passenger airbag off light was lit. Eventually, it went away.

To the OP, good find! I didn't know about this until now. The recall is listed at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls...intVersion=YES.

One can always search for recalls on any vehicle at http://www.safercar.gov/.

That makes sense then. I've seen the light go off & on sometimes just having a gymbag in the passenger seat.
